About Florida DBPR Inspections

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) oversees all food service establishments in the state. Unlike most states where inspections are run at the city or county level, Florida operates a statewide inspection system divided into 7 districts.

Inspectors check for 58 specific violation categories, classified by severity: High Priority (immediate health risk), Intermediate, and Basic. Restaurants that accumulate High Priority violations can face emergency closure orders.

Rat Radar downloads and processes all 7 DBPR district files weekly, covering every licensed food establishment in the state.

Violation Severity

High Priority violations pose an immediate foodborne illness risk. Intermediate violations require correction within a set timeframe. Basic violations are minor and low-risk.

Data Coverage

Records from 2014 to present. All 67 Florida counties. 7 DBPR districts. Updated weekly from official state data extracts.
